The Witcher 3 is an open-world action role-playing game developed by CD Projekt Red and released in 2015. Set in a dark fantasy world, the game follows the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter known as a Witcher. While the game has received critical acclaim and a strong fan following, I have to say that I found it lacking in a number of key areas.
Let’s start with the positives. The world of The Witcher 3 is vast and beautifully rendered, with a huge variety of environments to explore. The game’s story is also well-written and engaging, with plenty of interesting characters and plot twists to keep you invested.
However, despite these strengths, I found The Witcher 3 to be a frustrating experience. The combat system is clunky and unintuitive, with a steep learning curve that makes it difficult to enjoy. The game’s pacing is also inconsistent, with long stretches of tedious side quests that detract from the main story.
Another major issue I had with The Witcher 3 is the way it handles player choice. While the game is advertised as having a complex branching narrative that is shaped by the player’s decisions, in reality, the choices you make often have very little impact on the outcome of the story. This makes the game feel less like an interactive experience and more like a linear story with a few superficial options for the player to choose from.
Overall, while The Witcher 3 has some strong points, I found it to be a flawed and frustrating experience. I would give it a score of 4 out of 10.
